Use the Img boxes above left toolbar:
press Img and get a
If it is not a valid address or pic, it does as above.
You can't insert a picture here directly. You have to use a file- or picture-hosting site to upload it to. Then post the pic address they give you to here.

Below is from another website:

appears to be the address of your photo's page
I right-clicked on the photo on the website and chose 'copy photo location' and pasted the link below.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3366/359 ... 18.jpg?v=0
The '?v=0' after jpg makes the link invalid for the img tags here, so I trimmed those 3 characters off, surrounded the resulting address by img tags and voila!
I'm not familiar with flickr, but it should offer you, the account holder, an address of the photo, ending in .jpg, so that you can send that clean link to others.
You can hit the quote tab on this message and see what it looks like during composition. The last line of this message contains the critical photo-address with img tags. Note that this editor automatically displays it on two lines. You don't want to break it in half yourself, just let the editor take care of it.

Take whichever of these you want, upload it to your Flickr account, go to the pic in Flickr, click "All Sizes", scroll down and get the URL for the pic, copy it (highlight it and Ctrl+C).
Then come back here and just under the FORUMS heading, click Profile. Scroll down to the bottom and paste (Ctrl+V) the URL into the Avatar field and submit.
Cake!
Dang, Hugh! I was going to comment with something similar, then I thought that might be mean. And what if those are his actual daughters! 0_0HughJorgan wrote:Hmm, I think I liked it better when you couldn't get it to work...
No, seriously...
But truly...
I must be getting soft. (<----- Wow, that's some straight line I laid down.)

I have a confession, too. I didn't understand at first that there were only two beauties in the photo.

Another little gotcha is that sometimes you get a red-X placeholder for pictures that do have valid addresses. I am getting red-x placeholders for the above buffalo pic today.KrispyKritter wrote:Below is from another website:

I've seen it happen here with people's sig-pics, etc. It shouldn't happen with a picture-hosting site, but it might. So, if you get a red-x, you have a validly-formatted pic-image line, but if you see the naked address (like
