Return of the black screen

Like clockwork 0- 30 secs after connecting to BBA my monitor screen
goes black. (I can still hear the action just no visual - I press the console button and type /quit to escape ET.. minutes later screen comes back)
So I'm quite certain it's something to do with my firewall blocking
the ports that the server uses to communicate with my pc.
Please can anyone provide me with the port list the server uses to
communicate -so I can try and work around this?
I'm gonna get in contact with my firewall support team on this or if you
recommend any free antivirus firewall stuff I might try something new too.

I think the problem is that I connect to the game server on a specific port but the game server will reply on a different port which the fire wall will block.
Apparently this tool can identify the ports the server uses to reply.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 97437.aspx
can someone please tell me what they get using this tool?
I would be very grateful.. (My firewall is blocking the info for that too.)
ahh Man- what if this isn't the problem..

I doubt it will be a port issue........... my guess is it will be a video error of some sort with jaymod...
Rename your etconfig.cfg and let the game re-create it from scratch and see if you game works. If it does you have something in your cfg file that isnt kosher... I've had this issue before and shot the problem down to a video line in the config file.

Did you copy somebody else's config (like Fish's) and not change the video of record?
I believe he said in one of his posts to double-check this line and make sure it refers to YOUR vid-card, not to his:
seta r_lastValidRenderer "GeForce Go 7700/PCI/SSE2"
mine is:
seta r_lastValidRenderer "GeForce 6600 GT/AGP/SSE2"
from etmain\profiles\krispykritter\etconfig (wordpad can display it correctly)

You can search the file for 'render', or just 'vid' like I did. This was near another vid-type variable.

Ok it's fixed- still doesn't make much sense but it seems to work now.
Long story

What worked >
First I went into control panel > display>settings >
then I checked the desktop resolution set at 1024 by 768,
the refresh rate 75 hz and color depth set to 32 bit.
Taking note of this I went into wolf folder >Etmain
in the main config I changed these
seta r_customheight 1024
seta r_customwidth 768
seta r_mode '6' (this number sets the display mode to 1024 by 768 -
finally found what numbers mean online somewhere)
seta r_displayrefresh '75'
I did the same for every config (profile ~+jaymod folders)
until each one was identical. Success..

Had a good laugh yesterday on BBA1 so it was worth it..
