Ooooh, that's tight! And I LOVE French metal. I found some of it as well as lots of other music from around the world at http://hazardoussubstances.blogspot.com.

Anonymus reminds me ooooooof...dammit, I can't place the vocals. Maybe old Testament/Legacy? No, that's not it. They remind me of some band from the 80's or 90's, I just can't recall which, there are so MANY.

I wish I could get some of my oldest cassettes digitized. I've got some pretty good stuff from local bands where I grew up that never went anywhere. But, I can't, so here's something else entirely. One of many videos on my Yahoo Video Playlist and one of the first death metal songs I ever heard, performed by one of the true pioneers of the genre. \m/

Oh they ARE insane! If you've never seen the show, Sierra is correct, they were kings of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in their first season. Absolute insanity and hilarity and some very good metal! A winning combo!! \m/\m/ Some things before you watch. Ignore the first 20 secs. Clips start after. Also, in clip 9, Nathan Explosion says "And the birthday cake, it's gotta be totally metal, got it?" So they had a cake made with mercury frosting. Later the queen of Finland or somewhere would sample the icing and drop dead. :D

Darkest Hour: Sounds like 80 other bands. What is that, metalcore? NuMetal? Like whatever Unearth is. All of that sounds the same to me. It's all missing something, I don't know what.

Goodness at 3:45. No doubt this was ripped from the same VHS tape (Hard 'N' Heavy: Grindcore) that I have, so the quality bites. Blah blah blah enjoy!

And to follow up on Entombed, yes, they were excellent in concert! Saw them twice in SC, '95 and '96. The '95 show was really messed up though. Is he about to tell another story? YES HE IS.

Amorphis opened for Entombed in a VERY small club with a very low ceiling. It was a pretty decent sized crowd considering the size of the place. Several friends and coworkers of mine were there. Must have been nothing going on that night. Anyway, I guess Amorphis was pissed about something, maybe the venue, maybe the pay? Who knows. All I know is...they played louder by FAR than any other band I have ever seen or heard! At first, everyone on the floor had their hands pressed against their ears or had fingers jammed in them. It was brutal. And not the good kind of brutal.

The guys in the band were smiling wide as one person after another made for the door and ran out of the place. They may even have turned it up MORE after seeing that. Within a few minutes, nearly every person in that club was now on the sidewalk and in the street outside.

Amorphis kept on playing to a nearly empty room. The poor bar staff had to stay as did one psycho fan. I assume they all had earplugs, and if they didn't, are now all collecting disability checks. But the mayhem wasn't over...

The bands had their merchandise table set up in the back of the club, underneath a ceiling fan. Well, the music was so loud, it unhinged the ceiling fan and the thing came down right on the Tshirt Sales guy's head! Split it open nicely. An ambulance came and had trouble getting past the crowd of angry metal fans outside. We all cheered as the ambulance took the bloody tshirt guy away.

FINALLY, those Amorphis pig-f***ers got off the stage and Entombed got down to the business of putting on a great show...at a tolerable volume. \m/

Now, imagine me telling this story fairy tale style to a small child about to fall asleep. Yep, it would be fun to be a dad, but I opted not to screw up some poor kid's life like that.
