CPU/MB Temperature

Well I was reading up on my CSS crashes and one guys fixed his CSS problem on his laptop by increasing his fan speed because it CPU was running too hot. i was just wondering what temperature everyone is idle'ing at? and maybe how to use this damn Asus PC Probe II program. whenever i go to increase my fan speed i get an alert.
