Heard alot of players can't play ET for various reasons.

I posted a one stop shop right here so you should ALL be able
to play ET now with no problems.

*I do recommend buying a high windows 7 version with XP mode if you
haven't already.. (Basic windows 7 is crap if you want to run old programs)

*Pb has ceased support for ET so there shouldn't be any future pb updates
anyway.

*There are also some people who are working on the source code and
updating ET. There are several of these posts on the splash damage website. Most projects are either ongoing or going nowhere..

I know the first two links for the downloads don't work in that thread. The ETkey one still works.
The last one...I don't know anything about ETGold so you're on your own there.
We'd love to see you play some ET Swatt...get it loaded and come on over!

Any PB I have to worry about, or mods that the server is running?

PB is no longer supporting ET so that's not a concern. However one aspect of PB that you'll need is the etkey. The ETKey can be found at etkey.org. One function of the etkey is keeping track of your XP. Without it you'll find yourself resetting your XP and starting at 0 on every map.
Mods...we run Jaymod but that should download automatically when you try to join the server.

Played for about 30 minutes the other night, couldn't get the XP save to work even though I placed the etkey in the folder as instructed. Thoughts?

Sometimes it requires a little more work. What operating system are you running? If it's Windows 7...
Also if u run win 7 you also need to put ur etkey in user/appdata/pb/etmain. As these are usually hidden files the easiest way is to go to etkey.org and click on the punkbuster set up tab. This will create a key if required, and add the etkey to ur etmain and appdata/pb/etmain and update your pb files. Then before you connect to a server, run the game, open console and type /pb_cl_enable then connect to server and it all should be good!

yeah, it's Win7. I'll add the file to user/appdata/pb/etmain and try the console command this weekend....whats the command for Gamma? I found my old autoexec for ET, but apparently I didn't have any lines for gamma adjustment in there :(
