Bind is command assigned to some key. Like this:

In key "N" i have Cheers(Yooohhoo,Atta'way baby, etc.)I placed it this way that Garfield was shown Example

Sound:Yooohhhooo

Basically, think of the "messages" that pop from me in game...

like, "Noobs Pwned" or something and it says All Clear with the message.
Why do people call other people noobs, newbs, or nubs? If you're gonna insult someone, idiot works just fine =)

Scripts are little commands you put in a config file (i.e. "autoexec.cfg") which can fine-tune the game to your specifications--hopefully to make the game easier to play.

But you have to be careful, because this is also the route that hax and other cheaters use. So you don't want to just go around using any old script. I'd do a lot of research first. In my case, I probably spent over a month just reading up on them before I even tried using one.

Binds, on the other hand, are commands which link a key to a certain action. An emote bind is what you see when folks have the multi-colored emotes in the chat bar.

One of the more classic ones is "Call in Aunt Hillary..."

Hope that helps,

-D

Movement binds:
My Keys(different for each person) = what it does (not that i have to explain  )
bind KP_END "+activate" = open doors ect.
bind MOUSE1 "+attack" = Attack (shoot , give ammo/medi pack,...)
bind DOWNARROW "+back" = Move backward
bind UPARROW "+forward" = Move forward
bind KP_HOME "+leanleft" = Lean left
bind KP_PGUP "+leanright" = lean right
bind SHIFT "+movedown" = Crouch
bind LEFTARROW "+moveleft" = Move to the left
bind RIGHTARROW "+moveright" = Move right
bind CTRL "+moveup" = Jump
bind MOUSE5 "+prone" = Prone :wall:
bind MOUSE4 "+reload" = no need to explain
bind KP_LEFTARROW "+left" = aim to the left
bind KP_RIGHTARROW "+right" = aim right
bind KP_SLASH "+salute" = ?????? (dont know it even works :lmao: )
bind KP_5 "+speed" = toggle between run/walk
bind KP_INS "+sprint" = see reload
bind ALT "+stats" = player stats
bind KP_PGDN "+topshots" = topshots :wtg:
bind KP_DOWNARROW "+zoom" = binoc
bind PGUP "weaponbank 5" = syringe(med), call airstrike(fops),....
bind PGDN "weaponbank 6"= medic and ammo packs
bind DEL "weaponbank 7" = adrenaline
bind ENTER "weaponbank 3" = 2 handed weapon

this could be usefull when you dont use the default keys (like me) and still want to have your keys after you click the defaultbutton (by accident)at the control section in the menu.(like me yesterday :lmao: )
ava = Fonske :wtg: everybody in my city <3 Fonske

I would like to know how to bind name changes. I have two colour schemes for my name, and I often like to change them around (and I'm thinking of more colour schemes ;)). It's not really that much of a pain in the ass to just to it using /name Ron , cause my name is only three letters, but having to remember all the colour codes etc is a bit frustrating.

I used to be able to do it on Quake 3 by just going /bind i name Ron but it seems to be different on ET. Can anyone tell me how to do it please?

Thanks guys,

Ted

Should just be able to put "bind x set name Ron" into an autoexec.
Adding whatever colorcodes of course

Probably don't have to put "set name" just name should work

Code: Select all

        set name+ "vstr name01"
        set name01 "echo ^1R^2o^3n;set name+ vstr name02;vstr name01out"
        set name02 "echo ^4R^5o^6n;set name+ vstr name03;vstr name02out"
        set name03 "echo ^7R^8o^9n;set name+ vstr name01;vstr name03out"

        set name01out "bind . vstr name01outt"
        set name01outt "set name ^1R^2o^3n"
        set name02out "bind . vstr name02outt"
        set name02outt "set name ^4R^5o^6n"
        set name03out "bind . vstr name03outt"
        set name03outt "set name ^7R^8o^9n"

        bind , "vstr name+"
, (comma) to change/echo each name . (period) to change to that name
Obviously you can change the keys bound, and add more so long as you do it correctly.
