Screencaps! Screenshots! Screenies!
In attempt to get this thread back on track, I burned up a bunch more of my free time to do it all again.
Ok, so I started on my newest project, not really wanting to move on from the nice apartment I made, but unable to help myself. I was going to burn that mother DOWN. When I realized I didn't have the 'shop chops for that, I found a great shot of the charred remains of a home. But again, I would have had to burn up a bunch of icons and lay them all around the place. Pfffffft. Giving up in frustration, I watched a movie. Two actually. Phantasm I & II! I went through the movies, grabbing screens and making stuff for this. I didn't make the Tall Man graphic of course. And I left the artifacts in the lockscreen because it makes it look...dirty. Or something. Oh lord, y'all are getting the long version again. Sorry. It's time, boooooooy!
Wallpaper: Grabbed from Phantasm II. Barrels grabbed from Phantasm I and placed in portal room.

Lockscreen:
LauncherPro + (soon with skinnable widgets!)
Aozora Clock
SanjaMiniWidgets
My Arrows Widgetlocker Slider (modified to use death ball and "keyhole" grabbed from both movies. Plan to incorporate death ball sound effect for unlock sound.)
SwitchPro

Left:
Resizeable barrel icon (not currently in use but shown as available. Also grabbed from movie. Icons removed to maintain the bright emptiness of that room.)
Pole launches Google Voice Search.

Home:
Aozora Clock
Minimalistic Text Date
Left pole launches Google Voice Search.
Right Pole launches Tiny Flashlight.
Dock from who knows where.
Dock icons grabbed from movie. Gold modified from silver.

Right:
Calendr
Pole launches Tiny Flashlight.

Folders:
Gold dock sphere launches Folder Organizer and All Labels. All apps categorized. Icons from movie. Starred folder icon is the black Toby ball from the third movie, complete with extended knives (forks?). Silver dock spheres launch the usual phone, contacts, texts, and web.

I grabbed a LOT of screenies from those movies. I could probably make one or two more Phantasm themes. Not sure I really want to, though.
Addictive.

Now, in honor of all the British madness going on, here's my latest phone layout. Anyone recognize what/where it is?
Lockscreen:
Aozora Clock
SwitchPro Toggles
Battery Status (tacky, but I love the black shiny battery!)
Invisible slider across all the windows
SMS Unread Count
Beautiful Widget Weather

LauncherPro +, 3 screens
Desktop VisualizeR
Far Left:
Calendar behind pillars
GPS and Wireless settings on wall
Facebook on vertical banner
Center:
Lit lights along the rooftop launch Tiny Flashlight + LED
Mic "art" launches Google Voice Search
Black Star/Sun on floor launches all app folders
Wireless, Sound, and Media Reload settings on wall
And Facebook or course.
Far Right:
Reload media and Bluetooth settings on wall
Android (Market) held captive behind pillars.

There is certainly room to add more, like on the standing pieces in the foreground and/or something with the windows. I briefly considered brushing out all of the people. Briefly. I got a few folks outta there, but life is too short, ya know? Anyway, this place almost makes me want to go to Europe. Almost.

BURNT
Ok, I'm not thrilled with this one, but I worked so long on it, I have to like, use it. And show it. It's ok I guess, but outside in the daylight, I couldn't see squat, so I had to add some color and some flames to my burnt-out pad. (My poor porn collection...melted.)

Some of the changes/additions are obvious, but some aren't. There used to be two little kids standing in the middle of the place. Of course all the flames and smoke are added. The chair and the books on the right are added. That room way in the back was added. The TV and the VCR(ish) machine below it are added. The ashy skeleton was added. He launches the People app! :D
And to give you an idea of of what's involved with these image mappy type things I do, here's what it looked like before I started adding actual functionality.

What I especially love is what I did with the lockscreen using this photoshop tutorial: YouTube - Realistic Fire Text Effect - Photoshop CS5 Tutorial
Lockscreen:
Fancy Clock
Fancy Weather
SanjaBattery
Invisible Slider down the flaming letters.

OMH, I believe I have discovered the underlying reason for your dedication to these projects:
I picture you standing in line somewhere or maybe at a party. You see a girl you wish to make an impression on. You whip out your phone and use its magic to attract her eye. While she is measuring your madness, you are judging her reactions to see if she might just be your kind of girl. Sure saves a lot of time, huh?

No, dude. Roofies are MUCH quicker. I do these graphical things because I'm a geek and love it! But clearly I'll need to work harder if you are wondering WHY I do such things. lol If it was mind-blowingly awesome, that would be the answer. So I practice. And I share it here in the hopes that I could start up another fun thread. I may just have to come up with something else I think, huh.

While this is loads of fun to do, I'd really rather be playing Brink. Or ET. :(
