An update from Chairman Mao (sorry, lost log in (deleted??))
An update from Chairman Mao (sorry, lost log in (deleted??))
Hi
It's been an age, but I wanted to update those that remember me with news of my beautiful baby girl.
Lily was born on 4th March after an epic eighty hour labour (early labour started on Sunday evening, we weren't admitted till Wednesday night (4cm dilated), the second phase (the pushing) lasted 2hrs 20 mins and she was born at 1pm Thursday via Ventuze - she had her hand stuck by her head to make things awkward!). She was 2.46 kg, around 5 lbs 4oz, pretty tiny.
She is doing well, though a little colicy and keeping me and mum up all night.
Still, it's awesome being a dad.
Hope all is well with everybody.

I had to look that up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ventouse
It turns out a Ventouse birthing technique involves a suction cup on the baby's head.
Pretty Lily does not have the red-cap some babies get from that method. Perhpas her luxurious hair protected her scalp from that.
Congrats, Chairman Mao, and to your your wife for the Minnie-Mao.
(FYI, play on Mini-Me and Minnie-Mouse)

Yeah, i think we were lucky. They used a special small version of the sucker on her, because she was so small and she did have a bruise and a weird piece of skin for a while on her head - but that has gone now.KrispyKritter wrote:I had to look that up:

Defo all that head of hair helped to hide it! She's got herself a little mullet already. Yeehaa!!
Thanks for all the kind words people. Sorry for being such a stranger of late, but as you all know - real life tends to get in the way some times ;)
