Prime 95

I ran Prime 95 on my system.....

Antec 900 case (all case fans running on High)
Intel MoBo LGA 1156 P55 ATX
Intel I5 Lynnfield 2.66 Quad (Overclocked to 3.00)
Seagate HDD Barracuda 7200.12 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB
CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Window 7 Enterprise

Idle reading are.......

Cores 32C
Processor Fan speed 990rpm (Stock fan)
Intel Desktop Utilities readings....
Processor Thermal Margin of 66c

After 1/2 hour of Prime 95...

Cores 85C
Fan speed of 2048rpm
Intel Desktop Utilities readings of 14C (meaning till redline, over heating)

NO errors found......

Any thoughts on this?

You running a stock cooler on that Maz?

Yep, but what I push gaming wise does not push to temps to those levels.

Prime is designed to push the processors to the max, thus exposing any issues or temps.

Personally I would never OC any system on stock cooling, I OC my quad core gamer quite a bit but run a Tuniq tower cooler on it which is HUGE, had to adjust my case just to fit it in. :eew:

Prime does push it that to the MAZ (MAX) ha ha. But with my OC from 2.66 to 3.0 I did not notice more then 3C degree of Temp change when gaming. So I though what will I find when I run Prime with it OC'd. Not much difference there either.
This is the 1st processor that I have EVER OC'd. Being in IT I have seen some BAD things happen because of it. The Quad seems to have handled it with Prime. (Keeping in mind my gaming never pushes it that far.) YET
