\m/ All Things METAL \m/

Post by OhMyHead » Thu Aug 20, 2009 7:57 pm

Thought I'd create a place to discuss and trade links to all things METAL here. Turns out I'm not the only one who likes music that makes ya bleed from the ears and break things. Image

Examples of reasons to post here:

Image You found a video of some seizure-inducing metal band you want us to see/hear. Don't care what kind. Death Metal, Nu Metal, Grindcore, Metalcore, Power Metal, Thrash, Industrial, Glam, Rap or any other subgenre of metal. I must warn you Viking Metal lovers, though. There MAY be some ridicule involved. :D *cue organ and large operatic woman shattering glass with her gaping, ululating food hole*

Image You saw a video once you thought was awesome, but you can't for the life of you remember the band's name or song title. Describe it here and maybe we can help out. For example: I once saw a video, shot outside at night, in NYC I think, band was fairly young, they were wearing winter clothes/parkas/etc, melting snow and ice on the site, and the song ROCKED. Sound familiar to anyone? Who dat be? (FOUND IT!!

Image Are Slayer's guitar solos genius or just god-awful noise? Discuss it here.

Image If you want to debate what a douche nozzle Dave Mustaine is or isn't.

Image Discussion about what the relevance of Metallica might still be, if any.

Image You want to predict the exact date Tom G. Warrior will jump off a building.

Image Did Bullet For My Valentine make you shoot your girlfriend in the face on Valentine's Day? Post your mugshot!

Image You were invited on the (insert metal band's name here) tour bus where you got totally wasted with (insert band member names here) and they even shared their groupies with you, and you never get tired of telling that story. Tell it here! We might even believe you.

Image You want to post the video of yourself or someone else who has dressed up like King Diamond singing "I'm a Little Teapot".

Image Are you an artist? Know your way around Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro/Gimp? Do up a pic of the Seven Dwarfs...if they were hardcore Cradle of Filth fans and show it off! Bonus points for Snow White bound and gagged in the shot. Any metal-oriented Photoshop madness is welcome! I got bored and put my face on a singer once.

The possibilities are endless....

To kick things off, I'm bringing this over from another thread, thought it would be more at home here...

Rare and fat surprised this was on youtube..

Enjoy! :supz: :shodan: :music1:
Acid, thanks for the links!! :wtg:

Well, let's see. Nasum. Never heard of them. Not much range on the "singer", but certainly heavy.

It's crazy how Napalm have changed since I saw them live. On 1991's US Grind Crusher Tour (still have the shirt!), it was Napalm, Godflesh (??), and Nocturnus (dorks from Florida who didn't belong there, or anywhere IMO. This video of them will annoy). Drummer was the lead singer though, (Brian Fellow's Voice) "That's crazy!" Anyway, no Carcass, so I was disappointed. Drinking beers with Napalm after the show? NOT disappointed! \m/ That was totally chuff! :D THIS is my favorite newer ND song. I've got cassette tapes of them from the 80's! Here's their bit on a VHS tape I have of the Hard 'N' Heavy Grindcore edition.

Unsun - She reminds me of a half-dozen porn chicks I can think of. :D My favorite metal chick who doesn't screech/growl is Flyleaf. <--- When she sings "I'm fully alive...", that bit might get stuck in your head. It does mine.

My neck hurts just watching Purgatory on stage. :supz:

Boris - is that Japanese? It's pretty good! Not too many ten minute long metal songs out there. Looks like they've got a few! :D

I leave you with one from one of my newer finds and favorites. I find that most metal guitar solos are awful, but I like the one in here...

Thanks! Always looking for new honies to contribute to my hearing loss. \m/ Well, I watched videos from all three. If I had to pick a winner, I'd pick Within Temptation. But I found them all too...melodic? Symphonic? I do however like Evanescence and Lacuna Coil who are of that world.

One way I rate music is if it makes me want to race to the store to buy it. And since we're talking metal chicks here, here are three that DID make me race to the store on several occasions:

OTEP - Blood Pigs

The Agonist - And Their Eulogies Sang Me To Sleep (Since the first 20 secs or so of this one are so harsh, I'll be adding times in videos for folks to FF to so they don't just cut it off right away and miss it all. In this case, goodness at 2:25)

And of course, my queen, Candice of ETHS!

If anyone knows of similar artists with female "vocalists" like Walls of Jericho, Arch Enemy, or the now defunct Light This City, please hook us up!

A dubious source told me that Eths will be touring the US soon! That will almost certainly include Los Angeles. YES!

Oh crap. I just found this bit from an interview back in February:

M-W: You had dates planned as a support act for Superbutt in America in May last year, but they were postponed. Any more news on that?

Candice: For the moment, we don’t talk about that, cause we really don’t know.

Staif: We need a lot of money...

Fuh-KEH! Maybe they got some money since then.

WASP FTW!!! :w00t: What a great song! They really had it down way back then. My first taste of WASP was of course LOVE Machine on MTV. Wanna see it? Here it go...

[youtube][/youtube]

Gotta love Blackie's Gene Simmons bow-legged bass walk.

Axl's haaaaaaaaair!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Wait, Living Color did more than that one Cult of Personality song? heh How...unfortunate. Cuz um...:eew:

I'm listening to the Warrant song while I type this. They had some talent for sure. Always liked them WAY more than Poison. Gawd, I had to listen to a Poison sound check once while sitting in class in college. That was as close to seeing them live as I ever wanted to get.

Hmmm...let's seeeee. Ah! As I look at my NYXHC "Not Man" Among The Living tour jacket that's 85 sizes too small now, I gotta toss this one in!

(goodness at 2:24)

Seeing that live was one for the books! Saw them on the Clash of the Titans tour in '91. Anthrax/Slayer/Megadeth with Alice in Chains opening and Sepultura tracks playing during setup. WOW what a show. Unfortunately, things went horribly wrong. Slayer was up last that night. All night long, the venue in Greenville, SC was selling giant soft drinks in giant plastic cups. THICK ones. They made quite the projectiles. All night everyone was chanting "SLAYER! SLAYER! SLAYER!" And when Slayer finally got on stage, MANY people could not resist pelting the band with these cups. They played 2.5 songs and then walked off the stage. It was the only time I ever got to see them live, and idiot rednecks ruined it. D'oh!

Sevendust - Bitch: Sevendust is awesome! They always remind me of Sacred Reich a little. I guess it's the vocals?

Kittie - Brackish: I about had an accident when I saw/heard this back when it first came out. Then I found out they were all 16 and 17 and I was so ashamed. I've got all their CDs. Phenomenal. They really started the metal chick kick I've been on for the past few years. Me and some friends riding in a Mustang on Myrtle Beach, this song cranking, drunk and trying to sing/yell this part:

Takes so much away from inside you, makes no sense you know he can't guide you, he's no f'in shoulder to lean on, be strong!

Danzig - Long way back from hell: Yes, I have a story for everything. I saw Danzig in Columbia, SC back whenever "Mother" came out. I met some random girl there who started making out with me in the crowd. All sexy-like, she then told me to meet her outside by the whatever, I don't recall now, and she would XXXXXX and then XXXX and possible even let me XXXXXX. You get the picture, right? Well, big surprise, she was a no-show. A few years later, I was working a short distance from that venue at the most popular strip club in the city. And in through the door came the Danzig Stand-Me-Up Girl, looking for a waitressing job. I looked to the heavens and whispered "thank you". I then took enormous pleasure telling her she'd work there over my dead BODY. When she protested, I reminded her of the Danzig show. The blood drained from her face as she remembered me, but she decided to swear it wasn't her. THEN she said she was there, but didn't remember me.

So I banned her from the club and threw her out. :w00t: Man, that was toooo sweet.

Mushroomhead - Solitaire unraveling: Ok, I lied, I don't have a story for EVERYthing. WOW! This rocks! And I can surely hear/see some influences going on. It's like Type O Negative and Slipknot had a kid and kicked it down the stairs where Faith No More was waiting to breastfeed it. hehehe HUH??

LoG - Laid to rest: Dude. I love and respect your taste in music! \m/ "Walk With Me In Hell" was my Treo's ringtone for a year, and that same CD was playing in my truck the night I totalled it and went to jail. I miss it! The truck AND the CD.

Pantera - Walk: Hard to believe it's been five years since Dimebag was taken from us. :(

And as always, I leave y'all a little some-somethin'. Wake the dead, the Saints are in Hell!

Mushroomhead actually came out a couple years before slipknot, there's a big thing about slipknot/roadrunner ripping them off (same number of band members, their original masks/costumes were really close to what slipknot ended up starting with, Mushroomhead actually turned down a roadrunner contract, etc). Still a slipknot fan but it does seem a little off.

I put a center bbcode thingy up there last night after you pm'ed me smoky.
