3D Skinpacking

Hey,

Sorry if I seem alittle jumpy on what creativity or projects I like to work on, because I am somewhat. I tend to take on too many things at once and hurt my chances of finishing any. IE: Mapping, Code modding, Sound Packing, Level making, ETC.

I wouldn't want to let that stop me from asking or trying so here goes...

I already know how to change 2D images on ET like parts on the Limbo Screen, and I have an application I know how to use for read/write on .tga Targa bitmaps. My question is: How can I make a 3D model, changed from another or brand new, that is recognizable? Who knows about this here? When I tried it myself one time it looked "scrambled the wrong way", and it's .tga files are confusing with the "quadrant image".

Thanks in advance!

Not sure if anyone had solutions, or is clear what I'm asking, but here's a simple way to say it with screenshots to help.

In this screenshot is the image I used, which is 2D, to project the effect in the 2nd image.

The 2nd screenshot shows the effect made, on the Thompson gun.

I have reason to believe this isn't a bug, just a reaction when something isn't done right. It's like converting a flat map of the world into a 3D globe of Earth from that same map, not easy is it?

Thanks in advance.

If you have a copy of the files to spare I can take a look.

Sure thing. How should I send you a .tga? Think the upload to this website is restrict outside the bounds of .tga format.

Thanks 999.

Email it to me, including an md3 or whatever you have if you'd like and I'll look. -999- aT buffalobadass dot com.

Sent.

I sent you 1 .mdc (which I can't open that filetype) I randomly chose among the others for the Thompson gun.

The .tga I could open with The-GIMP.
